Our Mission

With generous support of the William K. Warren Foundation, the mission of this premier drug discovery and development center is:

•      To be a state-of-the-art resource for a highly productive and renowned group of faculty with research interests overlapping with drug discovery.

•      To expand of the bandwidth of our members and enable multidisciplinary projects beyond our current capabilities by bridging to the University’s disease-focused research centers and institutes, external partners including the Indiana Drug Discovery Alliance, the Indiana CTSI, academic screening facilities, and pharmaceutical industry partners.

 •     To organize the products and byproducts of past, current, and future chemical research to create the Notre Dame Chemical Compound Collection and to promote biological evaluation of these entities through internal collaborations and external partnerships, initiating the translation of discoveries from chemical synthesis to patient outcomes.

•      To enhance all stages of the process from basic discovery to applied and translational research, to support collaborative pre-clinical and clinical opportunities, and to promote a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship by exploiting resource throughout the campus and the region.

Universities, governments and private industry are working together to more rapidly translate scientific breakthroughs into medicines that reach patients instead of disappearing in the “valley of death.” - Abbvie (February 2016)

Research

The Warren Center will build upon a core group of highly productive, externally funded research programs in drug discovery. Although the Center’s current and historical research strength is within the Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry, membership within the Center includes all interested tenure-track and research faculty from across the campus of the University of Notre Dame as well as Indiana University School of Medicine-South Bend. For a survey of some of our recent efforts please visit our research and collaborations page.

Drug Discovery Service Facilities and Service Partnerships

The Warren Center offers a number of services to support drug discovery and development through internal core facilities and external partnerships.
